Baked Apples

Baked Apples

Baked apples are a sugar-free treat that is so easy to make. The hardest part is coring the apples, after that it’s easy peasy. You can cook any type of apple, but it is a good idea to choose an apple better suited for cooking.

Granny Smith, Jonathan (Jonagold), Cortland, Braeburn, and Honeycrisp apples are great for cooking. They are tarter than an eating apple such as a Gala or Golden Delicious, and cooking apples keep their texture and shape better than eating apples after cooking.

I like to cook with Granny Smiths, they are tart, firm, and delicious. They are excellent for baking.

Ingredients

  • 4 Cooking Apples

  • 4 Dates

  • 1/3 cup Raisins

  • 4 tsp coconut oil

  • cinnamon

  • salt

cored apples

Preheat oven to 375°F

First step core your apples. You may have a special apple coring tool, which would be great. I used my melon baller but you can carefully use a knife. When you core the apple, make sure you go not go through the bottom, you want to remove the core and leave a well to put the stuffing into. P

Next chop up the dates, mix them with the raisins, and stuff them into the apples. Place 1 tsp of coconut oil on top of the date and raisins. Then sprinkle them with cinnamon and a dash of salt. Bake the apples until they were tender about 40 minutes.
